Final Poster - CD Advertisement

To create the advertisement I used Microsoft Photodraw. This because it had all the right facilities to create the poster as you could use different sized templates and insert pictures. I have used three screenshots from the video, one of the words floating in the water that the main character has wrote down and it represents how they are supposed to be feeling, one of her climbing the tree and the third where she is writing lyrics on a notebook under the tree. I decided to use images from the video for the advertisement because this way it relates to the music video and gives a feel of the band and campaign. In the fourth square I have text which says the bands name and information on the CD, for this I have used black and white font again in century gothic like the other ancillary tasks.

Final Poster - Tour Poster

This is an attempt at a tour poster. I have decided to call the fictional band 'Marilyn' because many artists and bands are inspired by movie actors that they have their stage names after them. I think it is best to create our own fictional band rather than use Paramore just because we're using their song. Creating our own band and brand and name is better because we are able to create our own ideas rather than being influenced by what Paramore have already and instead just researching what they have done and be slightly influenced by it.
I have again stuck to the theme of black and red writing because it matches target audience and is similar to the genre of music, the magazine Kerrang is the best example because they are a rock magazine and use the colours black and white mostly. I have then put the bands name in big at the top and all of the tour dates at the bottom because this is similar to some of the tour posters I looked at during my research. In the background I have chosen to use a picture from the front of the newspaper saying 'Marilyn Dead' with a picture of Marilyn Monroe underneath, I have done this rather than use my own image because using the pictures of the woods would not properly represent a band. The image is well known and something that has gone down in history and using the front of newspaper for album covers or posters has been used by bands in the past and I have been influenced by them, I believe it looks good because it is advertising the band and clearly showing who they were influenced by.

Research of logos

These are logos of two female singers and because our song is sung by a woman I have decided to research what solo singers logo's would be like as well as just band logos. They have used their stage names in fonts that are easily recognisable and easy to read so that they are noticed by people immediately. Katy Perry uses pink bubble writing with hearts and stars, the bright colours and girly font represents her personality and music. Ke$ha has used glitter font with the colour gold which also matches many lyrics to her songs and displays her party themed music and personality. They are both good logos because they represent the singers perfectly and are not trying to be something completely opposite; this is something that could be taken into account when I create a logo.

This is Paramore's logo that is used for most things including CD covers, advertisements and posters. It is in a simple black and white with the colours varying to match the other things on the posters etc. The colours match their type of music as normally the colours black and white are associated with rock music, the rock magazine Kerrang! is the best example because that uses black and white on its cover. It is basic but can catch attention and the name of the band themselves would grasp attention.

Research of tour posters

This is a tour poster for Paramore, the band whose song we are using. They use a shot of the crowd for their picture at the top to show the atmosphere of one of their gigs. They do not have a picture of the band except for one of the main singer which is small and placed at the bottom. The poster uses dark colours of black and grey, it also uses their noticeable logo which is in orange and the only big colour on there to make their name stand out.

This is a poster by the band No Doubt who are a similar genre to Paramore. They have a picture of the band with their individual names above it and then the band's name at the top and in bold. They also have a long list of the tour dates and who is supporting them. The poster has used yellow and black and it is very bold and simple making the writing stand out and the picture of the band themselves is in black and white.

This is a tour poster for Lady Gaga who is a different genre to the previous two but it is good to look at posters for all types of genre to compare and contrast and get different ideas for my own. The name of the tour and her name are at the top of the poster and stand out in big font and bright white letters. She herself is at the forefront of the poster with extras in the background. The colour scheme of the outfits and setting is dark and uses blacks and greys and silvers, perhaps to emphasise the effect of the 'monster' part of the tour.
